Monachyle Mhor Hotel and Restaurant – Scotland

Tucked away in the heart of the Trossachs National Park, Monachyle Mhor is a family-run hotel and restaurant overlooking the magnificent Loch Voil. This demure, traditional pink farmhouse is home to the kind of beauty other venues can only aspire to. Do not expect things to be rustic, though. The décor and the food are both rather chic and cosy.

The hotel blends contemporary furnishings with older pieces and paintings, completed with a touch of Scottish rusticity. All individually-styled and decorated, the rooms feature quirky Highland-chic style. The design has been influenced by the natural surroundings, incorporating materials such as wood, slate and local stone.

A regular pilgrimage spot for Scottish foodies, Mohr restaurant is a gorgeous venue with panoramic loch and mountain views, perfect for a romantic candlelight dinner. Thomas and I wanted our honeymoon to be food-focused; we found ourselves in the hands of committed and passionate foodies. Mhor grows most of their own vegetables in the garden, using eggs from their hens for breakfast and venison, pork and beef from the estate – as well as Scottish milled flour in the bakery. What they can not grow or produce themselves is sourced from a radius of no more than 30 miles. Eventually, chef-owner-farmer Tom Lewis has plenty of fresh local produce to work with and offers absolutely delicious food.

There is something undeniably special about Monachyle Mhor.
